Laku !!

After receiving initial reports of Rizal's impending wedding, I was in total disbelief! Shocked that Bizal had finally been snared, I called him to verify. Not only was he to marry, but he would do it on a weekday, in a Buddhist temple, with a vegetarian buffet. Now, despite not being invited, I decided that this was something I just couldn't miss and booked my tickets immediately.

Realizing only the night before his hari H that he didn't have a photographer, he called Hengky to bring in the KSDC reinforcements. Which meant that Hengky, Gavin and I (as well as Juncihi) were privy to the whole shebang, starting with two tea ceremonies.

Now, I have never been to a Buddhist wedding in Jakarta (or anywhere else for that matter), so this was quite a treat. Rizal first went to Lila's home to drink tea, secure her hand in marriage and steal her away. Lila was stunning in her wedding dress and of course I had to ask her if she was sure that she wanted to do this!

They both then went back to Rizal's parents to show their respect to his family (more tea). As the Western bystander I can't be much more specific.

We all then set off for the Temple, and the guests began to filter in. The ceremony had quite a few highlights, but of course the one that sticks out in my mind was when Rizal and Lila both promised not to drink intoxicating liquors that would impede their judgement (wakakakaa).

Needless to say the same night found us all cracking open bottles of Martell at Sand's while we were serenaded by various members of the wedding party... So much for the vows!

Well, congratulations to Rizal and Lila. May your joys be many and your sorrows few! I'm sure the Buddhist monk gave you all the advice you need in life, so suffice to say - you are now required to contribute to the next generation of KSDC babies!
